The Burton Veterans Honor Run is an 11K Run and a 5K Run/Walk which starts at one of Burton’s most popular restaurants, Bubba O’Malley’s, and includes a route through the City of Burton’s showcase park, Kelly Lake. All runners and walkers are invited to participate, with a special honor to veterans with specially designed racing bibs for both veterans and active duty military entrants. An after event party featuring food from Bubba O’Malley’s will take place in the restaurant and patio. Proceeds will benefit The City of Burton Parks & Recreation Department and the Disabled American Veterans organization. The City of Burton Parks & Recreation Department is pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Bubba O'Malley's to host a community sporting event and honor local veterans. Overall Male & Female Masters Male & Female Top three Males and Females in age groups 1-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70+ Challenge Coin for 11K Run finishers Course The course begins at one of Burton’s best eateries, Bubba O’Malley’s (1076 S. Belsay Road, Burton, MI 48509) and runs through one of Burton’s finest parks, Kelly Lake. The 11K will additionally run through one of the bays of the newly built Burton Fire Station #2. The route is mostly paved with some unpaved stretches. The course will be closed to vehicle traffic other than local residents that require access to their property. It is non-certified, but is accurately measured. Refreshments Each participant will receive a choice of food items from Bubba O’Malley’s menu. The choices include pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, pizza, salad, and Bubba’s extremely good homemade potato chips. Packet Pick-up For your convenience, there will be two opportunities for late registration and packet pick-up. Friday, November 8, 2013: At Complete Runner from 12:00-5:00 p.m. Complete Runner is located at 915 South Dort Highway, Flint, Michigan. Race day, November 9, 2013: At the race site from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Timing & Results Timing and results will be provided by Race Services Company. We will be using ChronoTrack Systems, featuring the disposable B-tag that remains attached to the race number bib. Results will be posted continuously during the event for review.
